Saverio Moroni
Saverio Moroni is a research manager (dirigente di ricerca) at the Istituto Officina dei Materiali of CNR, Trieste. His scientific activity has been devoted to the development of quantum Monte Carlo methods and their application to quantum fluids and solids, as well as to quantum chemistry problems, as reported in about 100 papers in international peer reviewed journals, and several invited talks; h-index 30 and more than 2800 citations, as of Web of Sciences, November 2019. Illustrative results include various properties of the electron gas, rotational spectra of molecules in superfluid matrices, Goldstone modes of cluster crystal supersolids, dynamic structure factor of 3He and 4He, electronic excitations of molecules. Recently Moroni has joined the developers’ team of CHAMP, contributing in particular to the structural and variational optimization procedures.
