Nicola Marzari

Nicola Marzari holds the Chair of Theory and Simulation of Materials at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland), where he also directs the National Centre for Computational Design and Discovery of Novel Materials; he heads the Laboratory for Materials Simulations at the Paul Scherrer Institut (Switzerland). He holds an Excellence Chair at the University of Bremen (Germany); previous tenured appointments include the first Statutory Chair in Materials Modelling at the University of Oxford, and the Toyota Chair for Materials Processing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He is a partner in MAX (MAterials design at the eXascale) CoE and director of the NCCR MARVEL, a Swiss center on computational Design and Discovery of Novel Materials which is committed to the development of the AiiDA and Materials Cloud dissemination platforms.
